About Karren E. Henderson
Salutations, fellow globe-trotters! I’m Karren, the travelista behind the Empowering U® to Get Empowered® brand, an executive explorer, and a professional travel-coordinator. As a former manager of several corporate, international itineraries, I realized that I was the go-to-person (if not the guru) for all things travel, adventure, savings, and FUN! Since successfully securing efficient flights, comfy residential accommodations, and once-in-a-lifetime experiences for CEO’s and amateurs alike, I have decided to operate in my purpose.
Helping people to expand their vision for traveling, teaching others how to effectively map out a trip from start to finish, and empowering people to have empathy for diverse cultures. My fuel for jet-setting stemmed from my appreciation for peaceful car and train rides, respectively, to local destinations. Because we did not have a car in our household, I cherished car trips with family and friends, as well as 2-3 hour train rides to New York.
My mother often credited my family’s love for travel to my father, who was in the military and traveled both internationally and domestically. One week we’d receive a postcard from Germany, the next week Japan, following Korea, and other various places he was stationed. However, as a child I was not intrigued by international travel; that would change in my adult years after my first trip to London! I was advised to visit London first because there was no language barrier.
As soon as my feet met the home of the Water-loo Bridge, it confirmed that I was walking into unchartered happiness. I have had the privilege of visiting London, Bath, Cambridge, Cardiff, and Aberystwyth, Wales. I almost had my foreigner card revoked within 2 days, as I wasted no time making myself at home by navigating the city via the London Tube and British Rail. Even more, I maximized my trip by country-hopping to France by way of the Eurostar.
Did I mention I was Venus and Serena’s 1st cousin twice removed?! Well, my affinity with tennis has led me to experience three of the four Grand Slams: US Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. I declined my heart’s desire to attend the Australian Open due to the 23+ hour flight duration. You deserve to live your best life without mind-limitations or travel restrictions. The key to enjoying a trip abroad is to first find a commonality with the place you plan to visit, such as the home of an admired artist, a wonder of the world, exotic animals or foods, health and wellness activities, or even the taping of a TV show.
